Things to Avoid:

Relying upon highly paid sales people to sell you technology

Use of a large recruiting company with people who have no real world technology experience

Working with contractors or employees that do not fit your culture, work ethic, and long term vision

Trying to save money by doing everything inhouse

Playing it safe with Big 4 style consulting firms

Failing to incorporate consultants as full team members

Leveraging overseas resources unless you are truly in a position to do this well

What do you mean by “Fractional Resources”?

Our network includes resources that specialize in supporting technologies but less than full time (40 hours per week). Example: Implementing a Saleforce strategy required very senior Solutions/Technical Architect to guide and plan the project in collaboration with the Sr. leadership spending 20 hours per week over the course of 3 months. Another example is a CTO has inherited an obscure Enterprise CMS technology but does not have the time to ramp up on a technology that will likely be transitioned out in the future. We can provide a PT person that will dedicate time each week. As this person will integrate to your internal team/process they can be much less expensive than using an outside consulting firm to accomplish the same tasks.

How much of my internal team can be leveraged on a project?

We will work with you to determine what level of participation by internal team members vs outside resources. Typically a highly experienced outside resources will take the lead on a technology with an eye towards building up your internal team and preparing you to support the technology long term.

How is this different from traditional staffing companies?

Staffing companies are typically comprised of salespeople with little to no technology experience while we use leaders from the technology world as project liaisons. Some of our people have been in your exact hiring role on the corporate side. We know that as a sr. leader you could compose the perfect team if you had the time - let us help you to build that team.

How should overseas development factored into our teams?

We believe that overseas teams should be avoided unless you have truly made the investment to enable this strategy. Communication, Cultural fit, time zone and other factors trump cost every single time.

What percentage of my team should be contract resources?

The short answer is: Some. There should be an ebb and flow for any company that is trying to save money by properly leveraging contract resources. For extremely important projects, specialized skills, fractional needs, and short/mid term project needs.

How does Composition-b make money (What is in it for us)?

Comp-b provides specialized in extremely hard-to-find project leaders, project teams, contractors, employees, and fractional resources via our network across North America. We are a staffing/consulting firm run by experienced technology leaders. Our fees are typically through our consulting on a per hour basis. We typically can save companies 30-50% over Big 4 consulting and in most case we provide the same resources. We build your staff via Direct Hire, contract consultants and project teams.
